General Laminate FAQs
How do I maintain laminate flooring?

Sweep or vacuum regularly and clean with a damp mop and laminate-safe cleaner. Avoid excessive water or steam cleaning.

How does laminate compare to hardwood?

Laminate is more affordable and resistant to scratches and stains, but it doesn't have the same authentic look and feel as hardwood.

Is laminate waterproof?

Standard laminate is water-resistant but not waterproof. However, many newer laminate products offer waterproof options, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms.

What is laminate flooring made of?

Laminate is composed of a high-density fiberboard core with a photographic layer that replicates the look of wood, stone, or tile, and a clear wear layer for durability.

What styles of laminate are available?

Laminate comes in various wood-look finishes, including oak, maple, and exotic wood patterns, as well as stone and tile designs.

Before Installation FAQs
How should I prepare my rooms for installation?

Please clear furniture, electronics, clothing and small belongings from the work area, and keep access routes open. Furniture moving and old-floor removal can be arranged for a fee if included in your quote. Tell us about appliances or toilets ahead of time so any required plumber or gas fitter can be coordinated.

Does my laminate need to acclimate before installation?

Requirements vary by product. We follow the manufacturer’s instructions for storage, acclimation, room conditions and moisture checks. Keep the space enclosed and its heating or cooling operating normally; we will confirm any preparation needed for your selected floor.

Can I buy laminate without installation?

Absolutely. We sell flooring on its own and are happy to help you plan. Even when click flooring is marketed as DIY, an experienced installer can make a real difference with subfloor preparation, expansion space and finishing. Incorrect installation can cause problems and affect warranty coverage.

How much deposit do I need to book installation?

The deposit is generally around 50% of the project total. We are a small business and can discuss practical arrangements, including exceptions for returning customers and payment terms for contractors. Please agree any special terms with us before the project begins.

During Installation FAQs
What happens if the subfloor needs unexpected work?

Some issues only become visible once the old flooring is removed. We try to allow for likely preparation costs beforehand. If extra work is needed, we explain the repair, its cost and the risks of declining it, including any effect on warranty coverage. We proceed with additional work only after you approve the expense.

How long will my laminate installation take?

A bedroom may take only a few hours; larger projects depend on the area, layout, tear-out and finishing details. Unexpected subfloor repairs can add time. We discuss the expected schedule before starting and keep you informed if site conditions change it.

Can we stay home while the floor is being installed?

Often, yes, provided we have safe access and you can stay out of the work area. Expect some noise, cutting and dust. Keep children and pets away from tools and materials, and make sure someone is reachable for questions or approvals. We will discuss access and any room restrictions before starting.

After Installation FAQs
When can I use and clean my new laminate floor?

We will confirm when your particular installation is ready for normal use. Sweep or vacuum with a suitable hard-floor attachment and use the manufacturer’s recommended cleaner. Clean spills promptly, avoid excess water, and only use steam equipment if your product’s care instructions specifically permit it.

Should I keep spare flooring after installation?

Yes. We recommend keeping one or two unopened boxes, stored as the manufacturer directs, for a possible future repair. Colours and collections can be discontinued. Add suitable furniture pads, use protective mats and lift heavy furniture rather than dragging it across the floor.

Who should I contact if I notice a problem?

Contact Master Flooring with your project details and a few clear photos. Your product carries its manufacturer’s warranty, and our installation work has a one-year warranty. We stand behind our work and are happy to review concerns after that year too; the cause of the issue determines the next step.
