Laminate flooring
A convincing wood look, a durable surface and good value. Compare laminate with people who understand the product and what it takes to install it well.

Know your floor
What is laminate flooring?
Laminate combines a wood-fibre core, a printed design layer and a durable wear surface. Most planks connect with a click system and float over a suitable underlay. Modern textures and patterns offer plenty of choice, from light oak looks to deeper, more traditional tones.
An honest comparison
The advantages. The trade-offs.
Why people choose it
- An accessible way to get a wood look across larger spaces.
- Many quality products offer strong resistance to everyday surface wear and scratches.
- Consistent colours and patterns make it easier to coordinate rooms and finishes.
What to keep in mind
- Water resistance varies widely. Choose a product rated for the room and follow its warranty conditions.
- A floating floor can sound hollow if the subfloor or underlay is unsuitable.
- The printed surface cannot be sanded and refinished.
Installation matters
A good floor starts underneath.
Click-lock does not mean preparation-free. Subfloor flatness, underlay, expansion gaps and transitions all affect performance. We recommend experienced installation, even when a product is marketed for DIY, and will help you compare the complete installed cost.
We can also help you coordinate flooring colours, textures and finishes with the rest of your interior. Bring your cabinet, paint or countertop samples to our showroom.
